Equestrianista
Chic, sophisticated line allows equestriennes to bring their passion to their daily wardrobe.

Equestrianista is a niche lifestyle brand bringing unique boutique style pieces to the equestrian market since 2012. Equestrianista has quickly grown from an online only retailer, to adding select boutiques and tack shops to its list of stockists. Valencia Sport Saddlery in Lake View Terrace is Equestrianista's first West Coast boutique location.

Equestrianista owner, Julie Frykman, knows the success of this small business "lies in our ability to cater to the equestrienne who loves to bring her lifestyle to her daily wardrobe, but in a chic and sophisticated way."

The collection consists of unique and original artwork created by Julie to branded pieces with the trademarked term "Equestrianista." This exclusive assortment ranges from designs decorated with a soft hand print, to the ultra-feminine logo in show stopping shine. Each piece is curated for quality, comfort and fit, while keeping with on-trend colors and fabrics.

A lifelong equestrian herself, Julie earned a degree in fashion merchandising and design. She worked in the high fashion world in New York City, then returned to her native Chicago area to start a family. That's when the idea of combining her two passions took root. "I used my horse as my muse," she explains of how Equestrianista's first offering came about. That was the burn-out t-shirt with an elegant image of a dressage horse's head. "It was unique, comfortable and cute," she says, and it set the tone for the line of apparel and accessories to follow. Thanks to customers who said they "wanted their horse to look as chic as they were," the line also has horse accessories. These include logo-ed saddle pads and ear bonnets with just the right bit of bling.

Meanwhile, the burn-out t-shirts continue to be big sellers. They are equally popular with young and mature women and the soft fabric is just the right weight to wear alone or as a layering piece in cooler climates. With the gift-buying season on the way, Julie anticipates that a new item, the "Love The View" sweatshirts, will be another big seller. The "O" in "Love" features a rider's-eye view out through the horse's ears. "Who doesn't love that view?" Julie asks. "It reflects the idea of living in the moment and really enjoying our lifestyle." The lived-in feel of the fleece fabric and the comfy yet stylish fit make it a must-have.
