Kristina Novak
Expanded rehab and retirement services are the newest endeavor for the Santa Ynez Valley's go-to girl.

Kristina Novak is the go-to girl for all things equestrian in the Santa Ynez Valley. The lifelong horsewoman has been a realtor for 28 years and counting, she owns Valley View Farms boarding, training and breeding facility, competes successfully on the amateur hunter circuit and breeds adorable pug puppies.

Equine retirement and rehabilitation have been provided at Valley View Farms since Kristina bought the property and developed the equestrian facility in 2006. She's now expanding those services significantly by providing additional care and treatment at Westerly Stud, the famous 200-acre property that neighbors her 10-acre Valley View Farm in the Santa Ynez Valley.

"We are really excited about having the extra space and great facilities for rehab, lay-up, young horses or retirees," says Kristina. "Especially for people who want to have their horses out on large grass pastures with lots of shade and shelters. Extra large, 20' by 20', stalls, a covered Euro-Sizer, covered round pen, cold therapy hydro spa and a Game Ready are just a few of the additional amenities now available to clients. All horses are cared for by Kristina and her experienced staff.

Access to the Westerly Stud's expansive spaces is ideal for horses in retirement, young horses or long lay-ups, or for horses needing rehab from injury, surgeries or illness. The quiet surroundings and facility are a perfect environment for these horses. The set-up at Valley View, in turn, is ideal for the hunter/jumper and dressage horses in regular use in lessons and training and coming and going from the show circuit.

Kristina is also excited about continuing top notch breeding services. Leslie Morse's Grand Prix dressage sire, Tip Top, is a star resident at Valley View. One of his many beautiful and talented babies, Tip Top Sterling, had a terrific season on the Florida circuit this winter and Kristina is proud to be managing the stallion's breeding book and promoting his terrific bloodlines. A future hunter star and sire is en route from Europe in the Indoctro son, Don Carlos, who'll be settling in soon at Valley View after quarantine.

Just imported 4-year-old Indoctro stallion Don Carlos,
a new addition to the Valley View Farm family.

The multi-talented horsewoman continues to be very pleased with how things are going at Valley View Farms. Hunter/jumper trainer Lauren Scott makes the most of the facility's spacious and beautifully-footed arenas and facilities to prepare horses and riders, including Kristina and her homebred mare Imagine That, for success and fun on the A circuit. "We've got a great program going here," Kristina notes. "A little bit of everything: training, boarding, sales, full and partial leases available and a great lesson horse program."

Amidst all this, Kristina continues with a very successful career as a real estate agent who is super savvy about equestrian properties throughout the Santa Ynez Valley. Kristina loves the Valley and its people.

"The market is starting to pick up and it's a wonderful time to buy," she asserts. One of her listings, a 10-acre, flat parcel with a nice three-bedroom home, is listed just under $1.6 million. It has a six-stall barn, fencing, an arena and also a second residence. "Eight years ago, you could not have purchased 10 acres with nothing on it for that price," she explains. "That's just one example of what can be found in the Valley now. That price opens the door because it is really affordable horse property in an area that's not that far away from Los Angeles, but seems like a world away."
