Enrollment opens for second year of popular USHJA program.

 Enrollment for the 2014 Pre-Green Incentive Program is now open. Since its debut in December 2012, the Pre-Green Incentive Program has garnered high praise from members across the country for its encouragement of the development of young horses.

In the inaugural year of the program, 273 horses enrolled from which a total of 201 qualified to compete in the Championship with 107 stepping into the ring to vie for the record $157,990 in prize money. Among the horses enrolled were 38 American-breds and 11 Thoroughbreds.

There were impressive numbers for the first year with a total of 116 competitions hosting Pre-Green Incentive Stakes, offering series prize money of $155,672 and a total of $313,662 prize money awarded in 2013. The highest money earning horse for 2013 is Crisp, owned by Douglas and Kenneth Wheeler with a total of $36,755.

The Pre-Green Incentive Program is open to horses of any age that are eligible to compete as a pre-green hunter under USEF rules. Prior to competing in a Pre-Green Stake class horses must be enrolled in the program, registered with the USHJA and recorded with USEF.
 
Annual Enrollment Fee:
• Opening Date of Enrollment-February 1 of each series $350
• February 2-June 1 of each series $550
• June 2-November 30 of each series $750
Enrollment is online only.
 
The 2014 Pre-Green Incentive Program series runs with the competition year, Dec. 1, 2013, through Nov. 30, 2014, and will include series awards in 10 categories. The 2014 calendar is beginning to fill and USHJA anticipates even more host competitions for this series. Pre-Green Incentive Stake classes may be held at any USEF Premier (AA), National (A), Regional I (B) or Regional II (C) rated hunter competition or any competition that has been approved for a Special Competition status.

Once again the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show will play host to the 2014 USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Program Championship during the week of August 12-17.  Horses enrolled in the program that have competed in a minimum of two USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Stake classes at competitions starting between December 1, 2012, and August 6, 2014, will be eligible for the 2014 Pre-Green Incentive Championship.
