The 11th Annual East Bay Hills Trails Benefit Ride, Aug. 29-Sept. 3, encourages local equestrians to enjoy the area's beautiful trails while also raising funds to preserve them. The track follows and parallels the Bay Area Ridge Trail, on both fire roads and single track trails, over both flat and hilly terrain. Bay and valley views abound along the way. Riders choose their own pace, and ride as many of the six days as they want to. They will share camps for two nights each at three East Bay parks with the 5th Annual Bay Area Ridge Trail Through-Hike from Hayward to Martinez.

Thoughtful volunteers provide all meals for riders and hikers alike, plus hay, carrots and water for the horses. Evening programs include a visit to the Chabot Space Center, a naturalist presentation, the Flying Fillies Drill Team, the Dark Hollow Bluegrass Band, and other surprises.

Ride fees start at under $60/day and cover camping, food and horse provisions, trail maps and all evening programs. A raffle and silent auction will provide other opportunities to add to the $150,000 raised over the last 11 years to support the Bay Area Ridge Trail and East Bay equestrian and volunteer trail projects.
