Equestrian Real Estate provides real estate brokerage services for buyers and sellers of equestrian property in Southern California and also provides assistance with the discretionary permitting process—major use permits, parcel maps and horse keeping permits. We choose to specialize because we are uniquely qualified and we enjoy adding value, being creative and making a difference for our clients.
Caren Kelley and Maggie O’Connor are delighted to be combining their lifelong passion for horses and their extensive real estate experience in a company dedicated to serving the equestrian community. Equestrian Real Estate’s new website is designed to make it easier for people to find horse properties that are actively listed for sale in Southern California. Whether you want to buy, sell or maximize the value of a horse property, we are dedicated to being an exceptional resource and we would love to hear from you.
Caren Brown Kelley has a background as a professional rider with deep roots in the Southern California horse industry. Her career highlights include riding for Sandy Aston and competing successfully in the professional Hunter and Jumper divisions, including Grand Prix rides and winning both Puissance classes held on the West Coast in 1987. When Caren made the difficult decision to transition from a professional riding career, she applied the same work ethic and dedication to excellence in the competitive world of commercial real estate brokerage. She represented pension funds, institutions and individual investors, completed transactions valued in excess of $500 million, and was recognized by the San Diego County Commercial Association of Realtors as Deal Maker of the Year in 1999.
In 2002, Caren began to ride competitively again, and soon recognized that the combination of her equestrian and real estate expertise could be of tremendous benefit to fellow horse enthusiasts contemplating the purchase, sale or entitlement of horse properties. In 2004, she decided to focus completely on equestrian properties and shortly thereafter, founded Equestrian Real Estate.
“I love this sport so much, and for now I am happy to be able to ride a bit and to spend my time supporting others with the complexities of their horse properties so they can spend quality time with their own horses,” says Caren.
Maggie O’Connor recently joined Caren at Equestrian Real Estate, bringing experience caring for her own horse through Michigan winters and teaching horsemanship to young girls at summer camp, as well as an impeccable real estate resume, to the team. Maggie recently relocated from North Carolina where she was part of the strong equestrian community. During seven years in sales and marketing for the Pulte Homes Corporation, she helped over 500 homeowners build their dream home.
“Whether representing world class dressage or show jumping competitors and their sponsors, individuals devoted to a breed or discipline, or trail riders who enjoy horses and nature, we absolutely love what we do. How many people are fortunate enough to accumulate a lifetime of varied experiences that all come together to truly help people who love horses?” asks Caren.
