Young eventers, hunter/jumper and dressage riders flocked to Sarah Lockman Dressage’s free day of instruction, held June 25 at her stable at the Peacock Hill Equestrian Center in Orange.

Sarah worked individually with 16 horse/rider pairs, coaching dressage basics that helped improve each team. The range of participants included a neat mix of breeds, backgrounds and experience levels and it was fun to see come to life the concept that dressage is – as its French translation suggests – simply “training,”

Riders arrived with challenges ranging from a better extended trot and preparing for Second Level dressage to improving connection and getting quicker responses to their aids. They all left with progress after their ride and cheerfully-delivered homework assignments from Sarah.

Sarah’s sponsors provided goodie bags, raffle prizes and lunch – all free – to make it an extra special event. N2 Saddlery, American Family Feed, Platinum Performance, Lisa Seger Insurance and The Tack Warehouse were among the sponsors.
