California amateur eventer does more than “get by” with a little help from her friends.

“Wow, just wow!” is how California amateur eventer Frankie Thieriot-Stutes summarized her CCI5*-L debut at the Luhmühlen Horse Trials in Germany June 13-16, when she and Chatwin finished a remarkable fourth.

The odyssey began, Frankie continued on her Facebook page, when a Rebecca Broussard Grant set her to dreaming about bringing Chatwin back to his home country. Provided by the family that operates this month’s much-loved Event at Rebecca Farm, the grant triggered a chain of events that did much more than get Chatwin back to Germany.

“It dared me to dream, gave me a sense that people I have an immense respect and admiration for believe in us, and made me want to inspire others in our sport to take risks, give back and be kind even more than before.”

As the mother of two young boys, owner of two companies, active volunteer for Area VI and a 5* amateur eventer, Frankie exemplifies the idea that we can probably all do more than we might think -- and be a good person along the way.

This photo essay reflects Frankie’s knack for attracting similarly-minded stars to her sphere, starting with photographer, Sherry Stewart. The originator of Real California Eventers, Sherry has followed Frankie since Frankie was a kid and decided she couldn’t miss the chance to document the adventure.

Thank you for sharing!!

Chatwin has zero interest in the Luhmühlen information reviewed by Tamie Smith, who joined Frankie’s crew as friend, groom, coach, etc, before her own odyssey continues with the Aachen Nations Cup and Pan Am Games.

Chatwin’s 28.8 had them sitting third after dressage day, in the event ultimately won by Tim Price and Ascona M of New Zealand.

USET chef d’equipe Erik Duvander has made a huge effort getting to know all of the U.S.’ prospects, including spending time with Frankie and Chatwin at their Sonoma County homebase.
