Galaxy is a Purebred Arabian mare up for adoption at FalconRidge Equine Rescue in Valley Center (San Diego).

Her Arabian Horse Association name is Kings Summer Rose. This gorgeous mare is 19 yrs old, which is young given that horses are now living well into their 30s. Galaxy was abandoned at a boarding facility in Paramount, CA. She has not been neglected or starved, she was just not handled much or exposed to anything. Halter broke only and looking for a loving owner for life who will give her the training she needs. 15 hands, sound and good bone on this mare.

Adoption fee $300.

Happy New Year!! We are excited to start 2015 with a spotlight on breeders and breeding, more hunter/jumper circuit stars and tributes to the California Professional Horsemen’s Association’s special award recipients. Look for us at the HITS Thermal and Arizona circuits and also at Horse Expo Pomona.

In our December issue article Mixed Messages from West Coast Sporthorse Breeders, we mistakenly described Sunsprite Syrius as having been imported. The up-and-coming eventing star was bred by Lori Whitley’s Rolling Thunder Sporthorses in Phoenix, OR and later sold to Sunsprite Warmbloods in Temecula. “He is a great example of what an American-bred (West Coast-bred, actually) horse coming from a small breeding operation can do with the right preparation,” notes Sunsprite’s Pam Duffy. Editor Kim F. Miller sincerely regrets the error!

Meanwhile, we’re already at work on our February issue. A special focus on the hunter/jumper world will complement our mix of news and features from our region’s equestrian scene. After that, the March issue will spotlight eventing, fashion and equine insurance. Story ideas welcome!

Happy Riding!
