Leslie Morse Joins Sabo Eventing

Two-time Olympic dressage team alternate Leslie Morse joins the staff at Lisa and Brian Sabo’s Sabo Eventing, based at the Orange County Fairgrounds. She’ll be teaching some very lucky members of the US Pony Club Newport Mesa Riding Center along with the rest of the students in the Sabos’ program.

Katherine Steiner

IHSA Champ Returns to Crystal Image

Katherine Steiner, winner of the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Assn. USEF/Cacchione Cup this year, returns to where her success with horses began: Denize Borges’ Crystal Image Farms. She’ll be an assistant at the hunter/jumper training program in East Bay Area’s Sunol. Katherine recently graduated from Centenary University in Hackettstown, NJ, with an equine studies degree. She loved the IHSA experience and looks forward to helping promote collegiate riding, along with applying her degree, as she comes full circle at Crystal Image.

Far West Farms welcomes Kimmi Hewson Budnik

Kimmi comes to Far West Farms from Fresno State (California’s only NCEA equestrian team), where she served four years as the hunt seat coach. This past season, Fresno State earned its highest finish ever at the National Championship in Waco, finishing fifth. During her tenure at Fresno State, she coached multiple riders to Rider of the Month awards, end of the year awards in the United Equestrian Conference, and All-America awards.

Kimmi’s experience riding multiple types of horses played a key part in the success of her collegiate career as a rider and then as a trainer. Her experience in catch riding and teaching others to catch ride, has made her the perfect candidate to help Far West start up its own Interscholastic Equestrian Association team.
