Position Summary:  Utilizing SmartPak’s Mobile Retail Unit, this individual will be responsible for developing, cultivating and managing relationships with Barn Professionals and horse owners in the California market.  Territory Sales and Trade Representatives promote customer satisfaction and loyalty by demonstrating an understanding of the Barn Professionals’ and their clients’ horse care needs, with the goal of increasing sales of SmartPaks, supplements, tack, equipment and barn supplies within the barn accounts and through SmartPak’s Mobile Retail Unit. This person will also help identify and qualify new business opportunities with barn account prospects as well as provide exemplary customer service.

The consultant will be responsible to develop the geographic market and drive revenue growth from both new and current barn customers and horse owners. They will also be instrumental in creating and executing effective sales campaigns and events in their territory.

Essential Job Functions:

Responsible for all aspects of sales and service including:

  • Execute a consultative selling approach with high call/email/event/in-person meeting activity,
  • Exceed quarterly and annual targets,
  • Manage sales and merchandising of the Mobile Retail Unit, with oversight of all operational functions which include but are not limited to driving, inventory management, and store maintenance,
  • Manage outbound activity and to secure meetings with barn professionals and other horse owners,
  • Be the SmartPak Ambassador in all aspects of position,
  • Develop an annual sales plan including key account and territory strategies,
  • Create and maintain a qualified pipeline of prospects,
  • Maintain quality relationships to retain clients and win referrals of new barn accounts,
  • Be entrepreneurial in thinking and business management,
  • Develop a working relationship with all disciplines within SmartPak,
  • Understanding of and demonstrable track record of utilizing a recognized sales methodology,
  • Understands the market issues and trends affecting the barns and equine market,
  • Confidently making product recommendations regarding SmartPaks, supplements and supply product lines,
  • Driving brand building initiatives through the execution of marketing programs and promotions, and
  • Following up on all account management duties including answering calls/emails, placing orders, providing solutions.

Other Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in continuing education programs,
  • Have a desire to build and grow a sales career,
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of sales experience
  • Proven track record of sales success within the given territory or similar territory is ideal,
  • Willing and able to dedicate extensive time traveling to shows on the West Coast (including weekends)
  • Sense of adventure
  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree,
  • Strong problem solving skill set with great presentation skills,
  • Horse ownership or riding experience preferred,
  • Must be organized and have proficiency in use of technology and database management (CRM) systems,
  • Resourceful and seek out and leverage information
  • Sophisticated communication skills, both written and verbal,
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills,
  • Self-motivated and disciplined with a determined desire to succeed,
  • Comfortable working independently as well as in a group,
  • High energy, motivated, confident individual with great integrity and judgment, and
  • Highly professional and goal oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
