June 2016 - Superstar Clinics Coming This Fall

Scott Brash, Charlotte Dujardin & William Fox-Pitt coming to California.

by Kim F. Miller

Great Britain show jumper Scott Brash leads a superstar roster of clinicians heading to California this fall, brought in for separate educational tour stops by event organizer Scott Hayes.

Brash is a 2012 Olympic team gold medalist for his home country and will likely be fresh from this summer’s Games in Rio. Last year, he scored a historic victory in the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping by consecutive wins in the Grands Prix at Geneva, Aachen and the CN International at Spruce Meadows, and that just touches on a few of his accomplishments. In addition, he is said to be a humble horseman and very nice guy, so probably a great clinician.

The show jumper’s session is Oct. 8-9 at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center.

Brash is an MBE, Member of the Order of the British Empire, for his services to equestrianism and so is his fellow Brit and equally accomplished rider, dressage star Charlotte Dujardin. She’s returning to the Los Angeles area Oct. 22-23, when she’ll clinic at the beautiful El Campeon Farms in Thousand Oaks. This clinic has been on the books for a while, so may be difficult to get tickets to, but beg, borrow or steal (Ok, not really) to get in. We audited Charlotte’s appearance back in 2014 and can vouch for her delightful, no-holds-barred style of instruction. It was super informative, fun and exciting to see her work with horses and riders and share some personal anecdotes. (like how meeting the Queen of England after her 2012 Olympic gold medal was more nerve wracking than winning it!)

Her visits are co-presented with Piaffe Presents.

Eventer William Fox-Pitt is recovered now from last year’s injury and re-set on two California appearances: The first is Oct. 29-30 at Dragonfire Farm in the Sacramento area and the second is Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at Sweet Oaks Ranch in Temecula. Another British equestrian celebrity, Fox-Pitt is a three-time Olympian, many time world #1 ranked eventer with a long list of international accomplishments.

“Aspire to inspire” is organizer Scott Hayes’ mission in staging these clinics. Each has special ringside dining options in addition to auditing.
