Premier Equine Center
A new healing rehabilitation center opens on the West Coast.

A new equine healing, rehabilitation and conditioning center is coming to Northern California. The Premier Equine Center, located in Jamestown, is an innovative new facility offering proven forms of therapy that can’t be found anywhere else on the West Coast. Featuring a cold salt hydrotherapy spa, an equine hypoxic training unit and a covered free-flow European style exerciser, the facility not only rehabilitates recovering horses, but helps to speed up the healing process for hurt horses.
The rehabilitation process will be overseen by the facility’s attending veterinarian, Dr. Charles Scoggins, from Pioneer Equine Clinic. The facility also has access to a top alternative healing therapist, Dr. Linda Lauper of Clements, who is a leading equine acupuncturist. An on-site equine massage therapist is available as well as a farrier service. The Center also has access to many equine professionals, including an equine chiropractor and dentist, as well as alternative healing such as equine body work, bio scan and other laser/light therapy. The facility includes a 20-stall main barn (rehab and lay-up center), 20 outside covered pens (boarding available), turn-out runs, a small covered arena and an outdoor lighted roping arena conveniently located off of Highway 108.
Cold salt hydrotherapy is a method of healing that has been proven in Europe for almost a decade. The U.S. has about 10 of these spas in place and now the West Coast has access to its powerful healing ability. The equine spa is a completely safe and effective way to heal and prevent leg injuries. The spa uses very cold water, a salt solution and oxygenating jets to heal the injury. Using chilled, aerated, saline water maintained at about 35 degrees, the spa helps to reduce swelling and encourage healing of lower leg injuries.
The cold water also tightens the tendons and ligaments while treating all four legs up above the hock, not just one area on one leg like many smaller products. The saline water ensures that the wound is kept thoroughly clean and also acts as a draw. The oxygenating jets help to increase the blood circulation, helping to speed the tissue re-growth and reduce overall healing time. Many case studies have been done to show that this product prevents and heals nearly all forms of leg injuries. Promoting hoof growth, drawing out abscesses, treating arthritis, healing open wounds and rehabilitating tendons, ligaments, splints, fractures and inflammation are just some of the injuries the spa treats. Premier Equine Center is proud to offer a Panama Spa to the public and more information can be found on their website at www.PanamaSpa.com.
Equine hypoxic training was developed for human athletes after a lack of oxygen at high altitudes affected the athletes’ overall performance. An equine hypoxic training machine has been developed by Go2Altitude, a leader in human hypoxic training. The machine provides air through a mask that is intermittently switched between normal air and air that has reduced oxygen levels. After multiple sessions of breathing the air with a reduced oxygen percentage, the horse’s body and respiratory system makes many adaptations. Some of the effects of these changes include improved stamina/endurance, increased energy levels, reduced lactic acid build-up and high altitude acclimation for traveling. This training could be extremely beneficial to performance horses including racehorses, endurance horses, barrel racing horses and any other horses that are asked to give 110 percent. For more information please visit www.Go2Altitude.com.
To provide a safe and controlled rehabilitation, the Premier Equine Center provides a covered free-flow exerciser. This machine is also great for equine conditioning. Ranging in speeds from 0-20 mph, the horse’s exercise regimen can be controlled at a walk, trot or lope for a timed duration. Best yet, our free-flow exerciser is covered for year round use.
