Destiny seems to have brought Idaho artist Timi Saviers’ love of horses and art together. While studying art at Loyola Marymount University, she galloped Thoroughbreds at Hollywood Park for trainer Ian Jory. She traveled with several stakes winners across the U.S. in such races as the Belmont Stakes and the Kentucky Derby (their barn included leading California money earner Best Pal).

She gave that up when she moved to Sun Valley, ID 11 years ago and immersed herself in her art.
“At first I really missed the glamour of the whole turf club thing. But taking myself away from that enabled me to pursue art full time,” Timi explains.
Even with no Kentucky Derbys in her future, Timi likes to do things in a big way. Among several impressive accolades, her sculpture Pirouette is featured in the United States Dressage Federation Hall of Fame and was recently inducted into The International Horse Centre in Torino, Italy, the staging grounds of the 2007 European Dressage Championships. International dressage icons Catherine Haddad and Peggy and Parry Thomas (owners of Brentina) have also added Timi’s work to their collections.
“Pirouette sits next to a Picasso in Catherine’s home. Now that is a compliment!”
Saviers is currently working on a life-sized sculpture of Holsteiner stallion Liocalyon for Barb Ellison’s Wild Turkey Farm in Wilsonville, OR.
