Two Stolen Horses from Redwood Valley, Northern California
Two of our miniature horses were stolen from the farm in Redwood Valley, CA on September 11, 2009. If you hear about them or see them, please call us at 707-489-9921 or 707-462-7656.

The little mare is quite distinctive, with her homozygous markings. The stallion is a Celebrations Legacy Royale son, and is sleek and well put together. We can identify them by their DNA.

These horses were targeted. The stallion was in a pen that was surrounded by other pens and he had to pass through 3 gates to be stolen. Fourteen other horses were passed up to take him. He was the best horse on the farm. The theives left the gate open to the large pasture with the idea that all the horses would get out and we would think we couldn't find two of them. The fourteen mares did not leave the pasture.

In retrospect the neighbors remember a truck with a horse trailer pulled off the road tucked in nearly out of sight. The grandma who lives on the farm heard the dogs barking insistently at 3:00 am. Being 89 years old, she wisely did not go out to see.

Thanks for keeping your eyes and ears open for them.

Los Angeles International Jumping Festival - Ashlee Bond Wows the Crowd & Theo Boris Shows His Talent

The Grand Prix of Los Angeles (Sept. 19) was nothing short of spectacular as it opened with a live performance by Mishavonna, an American Idol Semi-Finalist (www.mishavonna.com), the National Anthem performed by a duet of violinists, and then there was the grand prix itself. After the exciting opening ceremonies the crowd was primed for an exhilarating night of world class show jumping, and the riders did not disappoint them. However, course designer Leopoldo Palacios made sure the riders worked for the accolades.

Santiago Rickard aboard his own Jet Star was the first to post a clear round and the crowd went wild. The crowd was assured of a jump off when Lane Clark piloted Kiss The Sky (Horsemanship Unlimited, owner) to a clear round and the crowd was even more enthusiastic. Ashlee Bond, fresh off her rookie international tour representing the USA showed why she is becoming America’s darling of show jumping when she and Cadett 7 jumped with room to spare. Olympic gold medalist Will Simpson joined the jump off group as did Harley Brown. Stefanie Saperstein, last to go in the field of 24 wowed the crowd and herself when she posted a clear round with El Sueno’s Quanto VI (El Sueno del Amistad, owner) making for a six horse jump off.

USRider Advises Horse Owners of New Tire Tariff Impact

Lexington, KY (Sept 17, 2009) – With the U.S. President’s proposed tire tariff, imported tires are going to cost more in the very near future. And while the tariff will be imposed on tires imported from China, many feel that the tariff will actually affect pricing on all tires.

On Sept. 11, President Barack Obama approved raising the tax on car and light truck tires from China by 35 percent the first year, beginning Sept. 26; 30 percent the second year; and 25 percent the third. The new tax will be in addition to the four-percent tariff currently in place.

According to CNN, from 2004 through the end of 2008, tire imports from China increased by nearly 300 percent (in terms of value) while domestic production of tires decreased by over 25 percent and about 4,400 jobs were lost in the domestic tire industry; additional shutdowns are expected to add another 2,400 losses in 2009. The domestic industry now has less than 50 percent of the U.S. tire market.

In light of the predicted price increases, USRider recommends horse owners consider buying new tires now to avoid the higher prices.
