Trailer Loading Workshop • July 17

With fire season here, it’s time to polish emergency preparedness plans. The greatest factor in limiting losses during a wildfire is having and using a preparedness plan for family and animals. The ability to load your horse into a trailer is critical. International clinician Len Judd and trainer Bethany Pappani will present the art of trailer loading on July 17 at Windfall Ranch in Alpine. “Don’t wait until a fire to attempt loading,” they urge. “Start helping your horse load now. Preparation saves lives!”

Admission is $40 and the day will also feature preparedness information from a variety of county-wide resources.

For more information, contact Nina Judd at 619-473-0091, www.lenjuddhorsepower.com or Bethany Pappani at 619-733-7830, www.bethanypappanitraining.com

F.A.C.E.-OFF Vaulting Challenge • July 17-18

This year’s F.A.C.E-OFF vaulting challenge will be held at the premier El Sueno Equestrian Center in Somis. This will be a nail-biting event where teams from all over the country compete for the honorable place to represent the USA at the Alltech World Equestrian Games (see description of this huge event in the next item).

The USA vaulters have a history of performing well at championships and stand a very good chance of medaling for the USA. The F.A.C.E team is one of the top teams and is a favorite contender to be the USA’s National Team. However, this year competition is fierce with teams from Mount Eden of Saratoga, coached by Emma Seely and the Woodside Vaulters of Woodside, coached by Isabelle Parker, who has proved herself by already coaching a bronze medal winning team.

Vaulting teams from all over the USA will be vying for selection.

The competition will also be critical for the ranking of individual vaulters. The female division is highly sought after with only fractions of a point separating them. Mary McCormick from Woodside topped the ranking list going into 2010. Alicen Divita from Woodside is a close second and Annalise VanVranken from Mayslanding, NJ was in the third position. Also competing is former 2006 World Champion Megan Benjamin of Cornel, NY, who is the first ever USA female vaulter to win a gold medal at the 2006 WEG in Aachen, Germany. They have their work cut out for them as they join the race for a coveted place on the USA squad.

Don’t miss the excitement and the chance to support our USA vaulters. For more information visit www.cadenceequestrianevents.com.
