Opposition Grows for California Roundup of 2,500 Wild Mustangs and Burros

Northern CA Twin Peaks herd is targeted for a destructive multi-million dollar summer roundup

The Cloud Foundation opposes and is calling for a stop to the proposed roundup of over 2,500 mustangs and burros from one of the last viable herds in California. To avoid conflicting with deer hunting season, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) plans to unleash contracted helicopters in the August heat to round up 2,500 mustangs and burros, including their young foals, from the Twin Peaks Range near Susanville. Vastly outnumbered by thousands of corporate-owned destructive livestock, the public’s wild horses and burros are the BLM’s scapegoats for damage on the range. Over 2,000 are now slated for removal despite healthy range conditions and an outdated census. Keep reading ...

Attn: San Diego County Equestrians - Meeting To Discuss Permitting Fees • Monday, July 12th

Most of you are familiar with the unreasonable permitting fees and requirements for equestrian land uses in San Diego County. If we want to see change, it is up to us to unite as a horse community and work hard for these changes.

On June 26, Michell Anne Kimball met with Supervisor Bill Horn and his staff for 1.5 hours. They were extremely receptive to what she had to say, as evidenced by the fact that her scheduled "3-minute" meeting extended to 90 minutes. Michell has opened the door for further conversations between the Board of Supervisors and the equestrian community.

Please join us for a meeting with Michell on Monday July 12, at 3:00pm, at the Olive Garden, 1107 West Valley Parkway, Escondido. During this meeting Michell will share the details of her meeting with Supervisor Horn, share her immediate agenda, and get input and assistance from everyone who wants to fix these problems once and for all.
