Fellers Flies to the Lead with Flexible at Rolex/FEI World Cup Final in Geneva

by Joanie Morris

American Rich Fellers held nothing back and continued to prove the US domination in the Palexpo Arena at the 2010 Rolex/FEI World Cup Final. Riding Flexible, Fellers (Wilsonville, OR) had the fastest round of the day to take the lead after the first leg of the 2010 Final. Flexible crossed the finish line ½ second faster than teammate (and 2009 runner-up) Sapphire, ridden by McLain Ward.

Owned by Mollie and Harry Chapman, Flexible has his own runner up accolades from 2008 in Gothenburg, Sweden, but Fellers feels that the horse has improved, and therefore has a better chance in 2010 than he did two years ago.

Ten US Riders Charge to the 2010 Rolex/FEI World Cup Final in Geneva

by Joanie Morris

With 10 riders representing the United States at the 2010 Rolex/FEI World Cup Final (April 15-18), the American assault on Geneva looks very strong. Led by 2009 runner-up McLain Ward and his legendary Sapphire, the 34-year-old will look to go one better in Switzerland than they did in Las Vegas one year ago. Fortunately, they won't have the fleet-footed Shutterfly to chase as the defending champ's rider, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, has just had her first child. Ward won the East Coast quest for the 2010 Final. Together, Ward and Sapphire have won two Olympic Gold medals and are fresh off a huge win in the $500,000 FTI Finale Grand Prix in Wellington, FL.

Cynthia Cantleberry Crisis Fund, "Green & White Night" • Silent Auction on May 6th

Since the age of 12, Cynthia (Willis) Cantleberry has probably spent more time horseback as she has on the ground. Mrs. Cantleberry has provided lifelong accomplishments for youth and adults alike by riding their horses to world honors and teaching children through adults to successfully achieve all their equestrian goals.

In January of this year, the current Paso Robles resident was involved in a life threatening accident involving a horse. The results of the accident has required significant hospital stays and numerous surgeries. The great news is Cynnie is healing and anxious to return to the show pen, the bad news is the seriousness of her injuries and the state of the art medical treatment has resulted in significant medical costs. As a way of showing support for Cynnie, friends are presenting “The Cynthia Cantleberry Crisis Fund, “Green and White Night” which will include a Silent Auction, food, fun and friendship on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Paso Robles Event Center in conjunction with the San Luis Obispo County Quarter Horse Mother’s Day Circuit. The event will be held in the MD Barn, next to the covered arena and will begin at 5:30pm.
