Long time hunter/jumper course designer and trainer Jamie Alder died from a heart attack in Ocala, FL.

world-class FTI Winter Equestrian Festival

The gorgeous black imported Hanoverian stallion Redwine, owned by Jill Burnell and Gray Fox Farm in California, won the EQUILITE™ 2010 Grooming and Conditioning Award during the prestigious Winter Equestrian Festival. Redwine (Rotspon/Matcho) is being shown at WEF by Peter Pletcher, and was awarded EQUILITE™ brand products from award sponsor Arenus, makers of animal health products and supplement blends including Sore No More®.

Redwine made his debut with Pletcher, of PJP Farms, in the First Year Greens at WEF, drawing a great deal of attention thanks to his stunning black coat, white blaze, white socks and great jump. “Redwine is a breathtaking stallion and we are really pleased to present him with the EQUILITETM Grooming and Conditioning Award,” said Stacey Small, creator of the EQUILITE™ line of products. “He is an amazing breeding stallion and is also doing very well in the show ring. He even has his own Facebook page, which just goes to show his level of popularity.”

Johannes Beck-Broichsitter Dressage Clinic • April 21 - May 2, 2010

For 12 days, Johannes Beck-Broichsitter from Germany will be in San Diego available for lessons on many of those days. There is the opportunity for him to teach at your facility. He will be teaching at Willow Glen Equestrian Center in El Cajon for most of the two weekends. Johannes is a Grand Prix dressage trainer and director/owner of a private Riding School in northern Germany. His principal influences have been Johann Riegler, Head Rider at The Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Philippe Karl of the French School, Cadre Noir. He is a Pferdewirtschaftsmeister, the highest degree given by the German FN for training and management. He is a talented teacher of any level rider. He also works horses in hand.

$75.00 a ride. Group of 2 or more riders - $40 each. Auditors are free. His practical book "Lateral Work, for Training a Supple Horse", recently published in German and English, will be available ($38.00). Western States Horse Expo to Present Alltech International Equestrian Extravaganza on June 12

The nation's largest equine expo, Western States Horse Expo, has teamed up with Alltech to present the Alltech International Equestrian Extravaganza on June 12, 2010 as part of the Sacramento, CA expo. The June 12 ticketed event will preview the excitement of September’s Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, KY.

Saturday evening, Western States Horse Expo will come alive starting at 7:30 pm as some of the world’s best equine athletes gallop onto the scene. All eight Federation Equestrian International (FEI) disciplines – dressage, jumping, reining, eventing, para-equestrian, driving, vaulting, and endurance – will be featured. The horses participating in these special demonstrations will awe spectators with their athletic ability and spirit. World class athletes like Olympic Silver Medalist Gina Miles will help spectators at this special once-in-a-lifetime event gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to compete at an international level.

HITS Desert Circuit in Review: Canadian Olympians eye the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix, Melissa Doddridge's Great Hunt, and HITS Thermal Honors its Heroes During Parade of Champions

Canadian Olympian Jill Henselwood couldn't have imagined a better way to finish the 2010 HITS Desert Circuit than to win the blue and a first-place check of $90,000 in the $300,000 Lamborghini Grand Prix of the Desert, presented by Pfizer Animal Health, aboard Bradon Construction's Bottom Line.

The decorated Grand Prix Rider has won a Team Silver Medal at the Olympics, a Gold Medal at The Pan Am Games, and now she can call herself the Champion of the richest Grand Prix in the history of show jumping on the West Coast, which closed out the six-week HITS Desert Circuit at the HITS Desert Horse Park in Thermal, California.

Complete Horse & Rider Workshop - Part 3 • Saturday, March 27

What: Developing the Complete Horse & Rider Workshop - Part 3
When: Saturday, March 27, 2010
Where: Jack Tone Ranch, 9749 North Jack Tone Road, Stockton, CA

In the first two workshops the following was covered: ground work, ground driving, round pen work, group riding, pairs riding, transitions, posting the trot, started to develop a nice back up and stop, and working to gain control of the hind feet and the shoulders, allowing lateral movement. Trailer loading, mounting the horse from the rail, safe mounting from the ground, developing a nice head position for the horse with a soft feel and working with a horse from the inside out were also covered.

In part 3 there will be far more riding, working on a big reaching walk and extended trot, canter departure, and a nice canter. The Jack Tone ranch is a great all weather facility - rain or shine we'll be ready to ride! If you are interested in Part 3 please contact us to hold a spot.
