ASPCA Provided $1.8 Million in Grants to Equine Groups in 2012

The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today announced that it awarded more than $1.8 million in the form of over 250 grants to support equine welfare groups in 42 states and the District of Columbia in 2012. The grants were primarily awarded as part of the ASPCA Equine Fund, which added a new area of focus in 2012: providing grants to promote training as well as rehabilitation so horses can be adopted quicker. The Humane Society of the United States Forms New Responsible Horse Breeders Council

The Humane Society of the United States is forming a Responsible Horse Breeders Council composed of horse breeders around the country who are dedicated to improving horse welfare. The goal of the council is to decrease the number of horses in the U.S. who are at risk of being neglected, abused or slaughtered for human consumption.
