Riding's October Issue, Featuring Valitar, Ships Tomorrow!

I hope all of you survived the summer. We had more than our fair share of incredibly hot days here in San Diego County this summer. I was working with judge Lindy Esau at the Signature show last month and thank goodness she borrowed a fan from her daughter Emily Esau's barn or we would have melted in our announcer's / judge's booth.

Lindy Esau has moved back from Florida to be close to her kids and her growing brood of grand kids. We had a great time in the jumper ring catching up. Lindy also had a great idea for the magazine about having our California riders submit questions to which she would get answers from top judges and riders. Let me know what you think and send us some questions. Maybe Beezie Madden or some other top rider will answer your question!

Yeah! Here comes fall and cooler days. Next month two big horse entertainment shows roll into San Diego. We hope many of you get the opportunity to enjoy both Valitar and Cavalia. Our California Riding Magazine team of Alicia, Kim, Mimie and I will be at the opening for Valitar and will be posting some of our pics on our Facebook page. We will also see hopefully many of you at Cavalia! Let us know if you can go to these shows.

October cover sponsor, Valitar!

This month we feature Western and Fall Fashion. Thanks to all of our contributors to this issue. Although California Riding Magazine is heavily focused on english sports, we do think our job is to make sure we bring you news about all horse activity in California. Check out the report on the California Reining Horse Assn.'s annual Challenge and the article about the local driving shows here in San Diego County. When the time comes to hang up my riding saddle, I plan on having Jamie Gassert teach me how to drive. She regularly drives up our street in Descanso and I'm hoping my schedule and check book will let me enjoy driving.

In the meantime I'm having lots of fun helping Ronnette Bowman Leja with her horses and riders. It's all fun and glad I've found a way to keep on riding!

Send us your story ideas and be sure to like us on Facebook, where you'll get all kinds of great extra information. Happy Riding!
