Award Winning Fair: Again!
Popular San Diego summer event scores more accolades.

The San Diego County Fair was once again a top award winner at the Western Fairs Association (WFA) Convention and Trade Show held Jan. 20-23 in Reno. The 2012 Fair received a total of 26 awards including awards for Marketing and Agriculture/Educational Programs, the Fair Theme and New Conservation and Green Programs. WFA is a non-profit trade association serving the Fair industry in the Western United States and Canada.

"As we continue to be a leader in the Fair industry, The San Diego County Fair stays true to the mission of the 22nd District Agricultural Association," stated General Manager/CEO of the 22nd DAA, Timothy J. Fennell. "Over the years we have become an integral part of San Diego County by supporting agriculture and educational activities such as 4-H, FFA, Grange and other youth development programs and we will continue that mission in 2013. We will keep agriculture alive and thriving in San Diego County now and for future generations that will add to our fruitful history of the San Diego County Fair at the Del
Mar Fairgrounds."

The 2012 WFA awards were presented to the San Diego County Fair in categories ranging from employee recognition to websites.
The 2012 San Diego County Fair also received 21 awards from The International Association of Fairs and Expositions for outstanding Agricultural and Competitive programs at the IAFE Convention and Trade Show held November 25 to 29 in Las Vegas.

The San Diego County Fair is the largest annual event in San Diego County and is the fourth largest fair in North America. In 2012, the Fair drew more than 1.5 million visitors making it another record-breaking year for the fourth year in a row!

"Game On" is the theme for the 2013 San Diego County Fair. Get ready to play! The summer of 2013 promises to be filled with fun and games galore for 24 days. The "Game On" theme invites everyone young and old to have the time of their lives. The Fair will spotlight classic and nostalgic games we grew up with and show how games have evolved over the years. From board games and pinball, to television, videos and computers, technology has enhanced the gaming culture beyond our wildest dreams.

The 2013 San Diego County Fair will open on Sat., June 8 and run through Thurs., July 4. The Fair will be closed the first three Mondays: June 10, 17 and 24.
