Winner's Circle

Claire Sears Takes The Win

Congratulations to Claire Sears for becoming the overall winner in the Los Angeles Hunter Jumper Association's Horsemastership competition. Claire finished first in both the written and hands-on portions. Erin Rylie Clark was the runner-up and Henley Adkins finished third overall. Claire and Erin are both Rainbow Canyon Ranch students. Claire competed in the competition for several years, finished in the top three the past two years and was thrilled to win it this time. She expressed special thanks to her trainer Kim Tasker, the horsemanship workshop presented by Sandrine Seifert, and to her horse, Kingdom Come, of course.

Shining Diamonds

Diamond Mountain Stables' riders cropped up repeatedly in the Nor Cal Year End Awards. Janna Morbitz and Estival were champions in the younger A/A Jumpers, while Melanie Rapp and Peter Pan earned the reserve champion in the older A/A jumpers. Kimberly Butts placed both her horses, Murkas Rockstar and Heathcroft's Comet, in the top 10 and Melanie and Incandescent were in the top 10, too.

In the Junior Jumper division, Haley Schwab dominated by winning the championship with Coya, and placing in the top 10 with Charlemagne, Ducati Z and Caitano.

Jean Edwards, with her darling horse Artico, once again single-handedly held up DMS' honor in the Hunters and Equitation, placing in the top 10 in both divisions.

DMS' head trainer and rider Macella O'Neill finished the year in the top 5 of the leading jumper riders thanks to the efforts of many horses.
Now we'll be back in the sun starting the HITS Desert Circuit.
Thanks to Becky McIver for this report from Diamond Mountain Stables in Napa Valley's Calistoga.
