Publisher's Notes

Available for Adoption: Tawny

Tawny is a gorgeous 11 yr old palomino mare up for adoption by FalconRidge Equine Rescue, located in Valley Center (San Diego), CA. She was rescued from the San Diego County Carlsbad shelter where she and another mare had been seized from an owner for neglect. Tawny appears to be gentle, picks up feet, leads, trailer loads easily but has not been started under saddle for riding, so she will need training. Very nice sweet mare, capable to do anything and stands
14.3 hands high. Tawny has had her teeth floated, shots and has been wormed.

Contact FalconRidge at www.falconridgerescue.org,

Happy New Year!! We hope all of you and your horses are off to a great start in 2013! We are happy to continue to bring you more California horse industry news every month than any other publication in our state. This issue is full of news from all across the state. You can read about the fall-out from the cancellation of the Valitar show in this month's Gallop here. Plus, we have a great story on our cover sponsor, The Yard Equine Center, here, and profiles of three interesting Horse People: young rider Kacie Doyle, farrier Ada Patton Gates and vaulting champ Joey Gadd. Please enjoy this issue and be sure to send us your story ideas.

We have also joined forces with the growing Horse Advertising Network. You can see their ad on our back cover. The Horse Advertising Network is a great program. Horse websites can join and run web ads on their site. They get paid depending on ad views they provide and on ad revenues for the month. Advertisers can get great exposure by getting 100,000 ad views / mo on over 50 websites and growing for only $150 mo. If you need the info on that Carrie Woods and I will be happy to help you.

Jan. 31-Feb. 2 we will be at Horse Expo Pomona - be sure to stop by and see us in booth #7114. Plus we will be restocking the HITS shows with magazines each month.

We are also in need of a sales rep in northern California as Carrie Woods has relocated to Southern California after the very sad loss of her husband Don Woods last October.

All of us at Riding wish you a healthy and prosperous 2013,
