Fallbrook Riders Field
Open space, arenas and cross-country course available through modestly-priced memberships.

Nestled in the heart of North San Diego County is a 10-acre equestrian facility with something to offer every horse owner. Located at the corner of Brooke Rd. and S. Stagecoach Lane in Fallbrook, Fallbrook Rider's Field has served horse lovers throughout Southern California for over 60 years. Rider's Field, as it is affectionately known, is run by a small not-for-profit membership organization with membership open to all.

This park-like property was donated to the people of Fallbrook 62 years ago to be used for the good of Fallbrook's equestrian community. Over the years, the field has been host to such diverse events as the Fallbrook Pioneer Days, rodeos, team pennings, dances, barbeques, weddings, funerals, Grange livestock shows and even a circus. More recently the field has offered rail shows, hunter/jumper events, dressage shows, combined training events, play-days and trail challenges. Fallbrook Rider's Field is the home of Fallbrook Pony Club and is used for numerous regional Pony Club and 4H events. It was also used as an evacuation site during the Rice Canyon and Cedar fires when numerous horses and their families sheltered safely for up to a week. Most importantly, Fallbrook Rider's Field offers a safe and peaceful place to ride and school whatever discipline you and your horse enjoy.

Fallbrook Rider's Field is completely fenced and features two large sand arenas. The extra-large stadium arena is supplied with a variety of fences, while the 100' x 200' warm-up arena is left open for dressage and other flat disciplines. The footing holds up well in the rain and the arenas are partially shaded in the summer. Pipe corrals are available for the horses and both arenas are lighted for night riding.

The cross-country area is a wonderful place to introduce young horses and young riders to jumping natural obstacles in the open, with inviting fences from 12" to 3'. Small elevation changes offer banks, drops, a low corner and a ditch. Both natural water crossings and a small water jump are available. These natural obstacles lend themselves to trail practice and there are trail-specific obstacles as well.

Human amenities at the field include shaded picnic tables, a barbeque, rest rooms, RV hook-ups and low grandstands. Many members find this the ideal place to bring their horses and families for an evening of riding and picnicking together. Some families even enjoy light camping at the field.

Currently 70 families are members of Fallbrook Riders Inc., but membership is available to everyone for only $125/year. Membership allows nearly unlimited personal use of the field and member trainers may bring students under some restrictions (contact the board if interested).

During 2013, Fallbrook Riders plans to host Combined Training events, Trail Challenges, clinics, schooling shows and some simply fun activities. Grounds fees for competitions are waived for members. New member families and organizations are always welcome. Board meetings are held the second Monday of every month and all are welcome.

Come join the fun! Fallbrook Rider's Field is located at 1627 S. Stagecoach Lane, Fallbrook and can be found online at www.fallbrookriders.com or www.facebook.com/fallbrookriders. A membership drive begins in December, but it's not too late to join for 2012.
