I am so happy to report that a home was found for Pikanero from Nicki Branch's Falcon Ridge Rescue, the horse we featured on my publisher's notes page last month. So this might just have to be a new trend for us to help these horses find good homes. Hopefully, we will have good luck finding a home for this pretty mare from the United Pegasus Foundation Rescue.

Last month I was lucky enough to work for my friend Ronnette Bowman Leja and teach lessons and ride a couple of her horses while she was on vacation for 10 days. Since my husband Steve lost his job, I haven't been on a horse since we sold Eddie at the November Greater San Diego Championship show. I've been super busy with California Riding Magazine, putting together the California Horseman's Directory, working with the Horse Advertising Network, trying to sell scooters, and hoping my horse show announcing jobs aren't being canceled by rain or low turnouts.

Getting back in the saddle has been huge for me. I've been dealing with the swelling from my lymphedema and it's been a huge mental battle along with the physical one. So to ride and teach was just what the doctor ordered. Plus I had so much fun with Ronnette's customers that I'm going to be helping her out on a part-time basis. I'm happy to drop my amateur status and hopefully cheer on my friends from the rail or in the announcer's booth.

We thank all of our advertisers and contributors to this issue featuring barns and Spanish breed horses. Plus thanks to our cover sponsor Horse Expo. Be sure to come see us at Horse Expo (Building C, Booth #3108) and let us know how we are doing and share your story ideas with us.

Happy Riding!
