Bardsley Grooming Products
Herbal grooming aids smell
swell and work well.

It is often said that devoted horse people take better care of their horses than they do of themselves. Users of the Bardsley line of grooming products would plead guilty to that, but the good news is that many of them are effective on people, too. The Santa Barbara company's owner, Hannah Gimbel, uses Bardsley's Horse Wash on her own hair and loves it.

"Bardsley Products, Inc. was established in 2003 to provide and manufacture cruelty-free, environmentally friendly products that, above all else, actually work for horses in all levels and types of riding and showing," explains Hannah. "Because we want our horses to feel good when being bathed and believe that our horses deserve the absolute best, we have created products that not only smell good, but actually work."

The line includes Horse Wash, White Wash, Tonic and Horse Shine, the detangler. All are made of natural, botanical sources blended with essential plant oils.

Bardsley's Horse Wash shampoo is formulated from a unique blend of eucalyptus, camphor, orange extract and other oils. White Wash is an all-natural concentrate that cleans and brightens light-colored coats and tails. It's effective, but not harsh, Hannah explains. It removes stains without leaving any blue residue behind.

The Tonic is a rich moisturizing conditioner that is specially formulated to be effective in cold water. Typically used in full strength for manes and tails and diluted for full body use, it leaves everything soft and shiny. The non-waxy formula means there is no build-up to attract dirt. Horse Shine is a great detangler that leaves manes and tails with a glossy shine and a silky, non-oily finish.

Hannah looks forward to building the fan base for Bardsley's Products. It's an easy sell once people try the products on their horses. "As soon as you try it, you really like it. I think it's because the products actually work, in addition to smelling good." As a result, the Bardsley line has a loyal following, mostly, so far, in California. "I've had a lot of positive feedback." In the future, Hannah hopes to add formulations for dogs. Several customers, including herself, already use Bardsley's equine grooing aids on their canine pals.

Packaged with the tagline "You Clever Fox" that harkens to the foxhunting background of the product's creator, the Bardsley line is available online at www.youcleverfox.com and in retail stores.
