Premier Equestrian, LLC, a leading supplier of dressage arenas, equestrian jumps, arena footing and stable accessories, has announced their latest product innovation, ProTex™ Arena Footing.
ProTex Arena Footing has been designed for dressage, jumping, and all-purpose arenas. It is a special formulation of non-woven textile and crumb rubber, providing both extraordinary cushioning and maximum traction.
“We have been working on this formula for a while now,” reports Heidi Zorn, President of Premier Equestrian, LLC, which is based in Sandy, UT. “There are a lot of factors at play in arena footing. Factors like impact, cushion, shear, traction, moisture retention and dust. We were looking for the combination that would balance these factors and produce a high-quality riding surface at a very reasonable cost. I am proud to say we have succeeded with ProTex.”
ProTex Arena Footing combines the cushioning qualities of crumb rubber with the traction qualities of textiles, when mixed with sand. “Crumb rubber is the best product we’ve found to minimize concussion and impact on the horse’s leg,” Zorn continues. “The non-woven textile is the best product we’ve found to bind the footing together, providing traction and reducing shear.” Zorn describes shear as the tendency for a horse’s foot to twist or move in too soft or unstable footing. “The crumb rubber and textile are combined with sand to produce a footing that protects your horse from concussion related injury while providing maximum traction, reducing shear and allowing your horse peak performance.”
Additionally the textile part of ProTex naturally retains moisture that has the added benefit of dust reduction. “The footing lowers the level of dust in the arena, provides a cushion and gives the horse and rider a nonslip surface,” Zorn says.
“We also found that the type of sand used is very important and often overlooked. After months of trial and error we discovered a sand mix that is perfect. But you’ll have to go to our website to see what it is.”
In addition to ProTex Arena Footing, Premier Equestrian, LLC also produces ProStride® Arena Footing, a crumb rubber product, and distributes GGT Arena Footing. ProStride® is found in countless areas across the nation, while GGT is the official footing for the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL. GGT is also an integral part of the footing system for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.
