Amanda Harlan wins at Del Mar National Dressage Show.

Amanda Harlan Wins All Three Phases of Young Rider CDI

Amanda Harlan won the Young Rider Team, Individual and Freestyle classes at the 64th Annual Del Mar National Dressage Show riding her own Liberte, a 16-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding by Flemmingh.
Harlan, who is a 2006 NAYJRC silver medalist, won the team test with a score of 67.632%, the individual test with a score of 66.842% and the freestyle with 71.500%. “I really felt that Liberte and I were working as a team, and he just felt better than ever,” says Harlan.


Sunday Farms Riders Enjoy Success at Horse & Hound Show

Congratulations to hunter/jumper trainer Jenni (Bruno) Giannini and her students Hannah Rice, Kendel Shapses, Paige Pastorino, Rachel Fotinos and Austin Fotinos, who competed in the Horse & Hound Spring Show at the Santa Rosa Fairgrounds, May 9-10.

Shapses rode her horse Rolls Royce to win the 3’6” $500 Child/AA Jumper Stakes class. Shapses took 3’6” Champion and Rice, who debuted in the 3’6” jumpers, was the Reserve Champion. Rice was 3’3” Champion and Shapses was 3’3” Reserve Champion. Pastorino won Champion Modified Jr/AM Hunters and Reserve Champion Low Children’s hunters on Andiamo.

Rachel Fotinos, riding her new horse Stoli at their first show, placed first in Maiden Equitation Over Fences, first in Handy Hunters and third in her Hunter Equitation on the flat. Austin Fotinos on Sweet As Candy placed second in his Kindergarten Jumper Class.

Giannini is an H-A graduate of the Moon Valley Pony Club, of which the girls are also active members. Giannini rode Fairplay owed by Dana Pastorino of Pastorino Ranch and Hay Supply and earned Champion Level 3, a third in Level 4 and fifth in the Mini Prix. She also rode Veritas, her 4-year-old young horse project.

“Jenni was fantastic coaching the girls,” says mom Sylver Shapses. “We feel truly blessed and they had a great time, it was a wonderful venue.”


Fiesta of the Spanish Horse Awards

At the Fiesta of the Spanish Horse, held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center the first week of May, there were 58 Andalusians,17 Friesians, 54 Paso Finos, 60 Peruvian Pasos and 13 Pure Spanish Horses.

The High Point Paso Fino Horse was El Tirador de Cache owned by Martha Coolidge. The High Point Friesian Horse was Beake fan Boppe de Slus owned by Denise Bator. The High Point Andalusian Performance Horse was Kripton Sen II owned by Nancy Latta. The High Point Peruvian Paso Horse was RTP Sabrado owned by Mackenzie Mazzi.

In the P.R.E. division, the Champion Stallion of the Breed award went to Margarita II owned by Rancho Jalisco. The Champion Mare of the Breed was awarded to Divina-P owned by Jesus Jimenez.
