Brooke Front
Champion Jumping Stallion
Moves to California

by Kathleen Burke Jensen

Champion Thoroughbred jumping stallion Brooke Front was recently purchased by a group called the Brooke Front Friends LLC from longtime owner Tamara Smith. Brooke Front will be moving from Salt Lake City to his new home in Southern California and the group is looking forward to introducing the dark mahogany brown, 17.2hh, 1986 Thoroughbred to the California breeding market. Dr. William E. Swyers DVM of Stallion and Mare Assisted Reproduction (SMART) in Temecula was involved in bringing Brooke Front to California because he believes the stallion will bring another dimension to the local breeding industry.

SMART will be managing the stallion for the Brooke Front Friends and Dr. Swyers is already quite familiar with the horse’s stablemate Coconut Grove. “I’ve provided assisted reproductive services for Tamarack Select (Tamara’s breeding business) and Coconut Grove was here in Temecula for two breeding seasons as I managed him for Tamara Smith.”

Brooke Front is well recognized as a true athlete, excelling in the show ring in both the hunter and jumper divisions. He also competed in eventing, earned winning scores in dressage and has gone through the 100 day testing for stallions.

Brooke Front Lineage

Brooke Front is sired by T. Brooke, a leading sire of hunters and jumpers on the East Coast in the 1980s and 90s. His dam line is packed with USEF Horse of the Year producers and his dam, My Fancy Gal, was the chosen mount for the master of the hunt.

Brooke Front is the perfect combination of pedigree and performance with an ability to sire exceptional sporthorses. Brooke Front bestows beauty, size, a quiet, trainable disposition and lovely big movement to his offspring who have consistently shown a natural aptitude for jumping.

Brooke Front is approved Selle Francais (U.S. & France) and RPSI (Rheinland Pfalz-Saar International), the official North American extension of the German Verband. He is nominated to the AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) Incentive Fund and the APHA (American Paint Horse Association) Breeders Trust.

Sire of Winning Offspring

Brooke Front is a proven sire of winning hunters, jumpers, dressage and hunter breeding champions. His hunter breeding champions include Sunnyside Up, First Class and Love Letter - undefeated in hunter breeding and a champion over fences. His hunter champion offspring Put Me In Front won Year End Champion AQHA Hunter Under Saddle in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 3rd APHA World Show Hunter Under Saddle Challenge Finals.

In The Front Line won circuit championships in Green Hunters and was a Top 20 qualifier for Florida 4H Finals. Gibralter qualified for the RMDS Dressage Championships 2006, 4th Zone 8 A/A Hunter division (Champion or Res. every time shown) and CHJA Year End Champion Adult Eq. both in 2008. Putting Up A Front was Year End Champion in four 2004 hunter divisions. Mac Ella was the highest selling gelding at the AQHA Congress Sale 2001.

Smith says Brooke Front is “a very special horse, he is exquisite. When you see him in person it takes your breath away.” The decision to sell the horse was brought about by unforeseen family circumstances and she’s happy that he is going to a good home and will continue to produce beautiful and athletic babies.
