The Vintage Arabian Horse Association was started back in the early 1970s by a few Arabian horse owners in Napa. Their goal was to promote the Arabian horse, not only as a first-rate show and performance horse, but more importantly as a horse the entire family can enjoy and cherish.
They held monthly meeting in members’ homes and barns and participated in local fairs, parades and sponsored various shows.
Over the years Vintage Arabian Horse Association has expanded through Napa, Yolo and Solano counties, the latter being where the majority of our current members live. We also have many members throughout Northern California. We continue to participate in local events and sponsor a yearly show at Ranchotel Horse Center in Vacaville. This year’s annual competition, the All Breed Schooling Show, will take place Sun. Aug. 9. The membership is very diversified with equestrians who show, ride trail and compete in endurance events to those who are breeding for that new special Arabian.
The Vintage Arabian Horse Association has a general membership meeting the second Tuesday of each month at Ranchotel Horse Center. We have an annual summer picnic, coming up July 18 at Whitacker’s Ranch, and a Christmas party at one of our member’s farms. Many of us gather and participate at the Arabian shows or for local trail rides, and participate in poker rides: any thing we can do to have fun with our Arabian horse.
