California Professional Horsemen’s Association welcomes all, not just trainers!

The following is the speech made by CPHA president Jeni Brown to kick off the Jan. 8 special awards ceremony in Las Vegas.

The CPHA is looking forward to a great 2016 and wishes you all a great year of health and happiness.

CPHA is here to serve our membership: all the professional members of the equine industry including trainers, grooms, farriers, vets, horse show staff, braiders, horse show officials, horse transporters, feed and tack store workers, the list goes on…

We are all fortunate to do something we enjoy and feel passionate about. With this blessing comes responsibility to try to improve the industry and the lives of all the people and horses working in it. We need to plan for the future and to work together to help each other. Our community is strong we have dedicated, talented, committed, ambitious and compassionate people who, working together, can accomplish a lot.

Let’s all join together to make our sport better for the people and the horses who love it so much.

CPHA welcomes your input and involvement in any of our activities and programs throughout the year.

Some of our CPHA programs include:
•    Educational clinics for riding and sports psychology
•    Online resources through Equestrian Coach, Equestrian Professional and many more.
•    A health insurance program with excess accident insurance and benefits.
•    A H2B Visa program to help foreign workers get visas.
•    The Pre-Green Incentive Program with bonuses for riders and owners and a $25,000 Championship for the West Coast.
•    We promote and produce our medal finals offering our Junior and Amateur members the highest quality competition at every level from 2’6” to 1.10m.
•    Our Style of Riding Class is a new and innovative format that reinforces good fundamentals for our 1.00m level jumper and equitation riders.

The CPHA supports the CPHA Foundation in every way it can and helps raise awareness and money for aid and scholarships. I feel it is important to mention that all the money collected from the WCE and CPHA Foundation Medal qualifying classes and the finals goes directly to the CPHA Foundation. So please, keep doing those classes!

We are so grateful for all our generous sponsors and benefactors: we could not do what we do without them.

Congratulations to everyone at our annual Special Awards banquet. We are excited to celebrate your accomplishments. You have all dedicated many years of time, energy, talent and expertise into our sport. Your impact is huge and we thank you for your contributions.

Finally, I would like to thank Nick Karazissis, Sr., and Mike Neilsen, both past presidents and board members who are stepping down this year. You have both dedicated literally decades to our organization, we will miss you on the board but  we really appreciate your years of service.
