I am happy to report my foot is almost healed up from a minor complication from my lymphedema surgery and I have been happy to be out walking a lot of horse shows and barns passing out magazines and California Horseman’s Directories. This month is a busy travel month for me. I am off to Western States Horse Expo, the American Horse Publication’s conference in Florida and a sad trip to my younger sister’s memorial in San Francisco.

This issue is packed full of great articles and I hope you enjoy the riding school articles our editor Kim F. Miller has for us. Riding schools are the lifeblood for the horse industry and we hope you share with friends your favorite school and or give a gift of a lesson to someone just waiting to give horses a try. As we get focused on our Olympic bound riders this summer, remember they all had to start somewhere!

Be sure to come by our booth at Western States Horse Expo and let me know how we are doing and any good ideas you have for an upcoming issue. Our July issue has a special emphasis on fitness and nutrition for horse and rider and we’re planning a spotlight on all of our region’s young riders headed for that month’s North American Junior Young Riders Championships in Colorado. They’ve all been working hard to earn their spots in dressage, jumping and eventing and we want to celebrate them!

Happy Riding!
